Essay Questions

What are your achievements?

One of my biggest achievements has been receiving the Academic Excellence Award that is given to juniors and seniors with a grade point of average of a 4.0 or higher. Through out my three years of high school it hasn't been easy maintaining the grades that I have. It takes me a lot of time and effort to stay on task. In order for me to have maintained them this way is by doing more work then what I'm suppose to do on a normal basis. Another achievement has been being the Honor Roll every semester my past three years as well. It's been an honor and I plan on still making it senior year and well in the end my hard work pays off. This year I also joined Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) at my school and my partner and I made it to state for Business Ethics. Preparing for state took a lot of work in editing our final paper on the ethic case and after having it read over 3 times we finally were ready to submit it. Surely enough we got the letter saying that we had made it to state. For state we prepared even more than what we had done before. We took timed practice ones with past cases that had been used. In the end, during state competition we got 6th place out of 8th place. Even though we didn't first through 3rd I still felt accomplished of making it to state and getting the experience of how much competition there is amongst everyone else.

What issues matter to you?

The most important issue that matters to me is immigration. It's a huge topic right now and especially with elections coming up it's a topic that has to be touched on. Many refer to just mexicans when really it's people from other countries as well. Some say that there should be a fence built when it will cost the country a lot of money and I personally think that it will be a waste of money because either way us mexicans still have ways to get around to USA. There are many illegals here in this country that have respected the law and who work hard everyday to have enought money to pay for food, family, and expenses they have. I also think that it's not fair for the parents who get deported and leave their children behind. Families aren't suppose to be separated from eachother. In the end many just want them to go back to Mexico which the government can do that but like i said before they will find a way to get around and also many jobs would lose more than 90% of their workers. These illegals are taking up the jobs that US Americans don't want to have. I know for a fact that no American want's to be a janitor, work at a meat packing plant, in the fields, and many other jobs. Another huge topic is the war in Iraq. There are many troops fighting for this country that have died innocent. After 4yrs. of fighting nothing has been resolved, only more deaths everyday.

Why do you want to attend this school?

UNO has always been my top choice college and I've heard great things about it. Also with the many times I've been on campus to me the instant I step foot, I feel like I'm at home. I enjoy all the opportunities they have to offer and also because they have a great diversity of people from different ethnic backgrounds. Everyone on campus is willing to help with any questions or concerns and also because it's here in the Omaha metro area which is clos to home. Many scholarships are offered yearly for upcoming freshmen for example the Goodrich and the Susan Buffet scholarship which I plan on applying for and hopefully meet the requirements needed. Of the people that I know, the majority of some friends graduated from UNO or are attending UNO and they say that it's a great to school in which they have really good resources that can help you with assistance in anything. Along with on some occasions I've met some of the staff members before from other events that I've gone to.

Who has been an influence on you?

My mom has been an influence on me. She's taught me a lot of lessons. From her experience as a young child and the olderst of 8 children she has worked a lot during her life. She was born in Mexico and came here to the USA and worked as well, but she had surgery on her back almost 2yrs. ago and from her i learned that education is something that everyone needs. She only attended up to sixth grade and she always is constantly checking up on us with our grades. From her I've learned that I want to be somebody in life and have an education to go far. I want to make her proud of me when I graduate with my Master's in Business Administration but first of all I have to graduate from High School since it will be an honor to be the first one in my family.

house painters in England made organizations, which over here created benchmarks for the calling and held barter mysteries under lock and crux.
